Remember that big star we all know and were told not to stare at?  Well, we’re keeping a close eye on it now thanks to the DSCOVR or Deep Space Climate Observatory.  Launched in February 2015, it lies at what is known as L1 or the Lagrangian point where the gravitational attraction of one massive object (Earth) partially cancels the second’s gravitational attraction (the Sun)or about 1.5 million kilometers from earth.
This is no Low Earth Orbit Satellite, but it is the only satellite that has a 50-60 minute lead in geomagnetic storm warnings which can disrupt everything from power grids, GPS, and everything else that connects us to the world we live in.  Hats off to Deep Space Observation.
